The newest Quail Forever chapter covers the South Plains region
Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are proud to announce a new Women on the Wing Quail Forever chapter in Texas. The group covers several counties in the South Plains and will strive to introduce more women and children to the outdoors — and bring new events to the surrounding areas.
Unique among national conservation organizations, chapters of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever retain 100 percent decision-making control over their locally-raised funds. This allows chapter volunteers to develop wildlife habitat projects and conduct conservation education events in their region, while belonging to a national organization with a voice regarding state and federal conservation policy.
“A founding member of our new chapter has been holding women’s hunting events co-sponsored by our Llano Estacado Quail Forever chapter, which is also based here in Lubbock,” said Dustin McNabb, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s regional representative in Texas. “She wanted to create a new women-centered chapter, and now the two chapters are incredibly excited to work together to plan events and provide learning opportunities.”
The West Texas Women on the Wing Chapter hopes to create new opporunties for women to get involved in the outdoors, and to form relationships with like-minded women along the way. The chapter will host monthly meetings the first Tuesday of every month, beginning Tuesday, February 6 at 6:30 p.m. at Albarran's Mexican Restaurant in Lubbock, Texas.
“Women are already a strong force in the world of hunting, conservation and land stewardship,” McNabb said. “And our female-led chapters are an essential way to spread their knowledge and excitement.”
