Biologist and Upland Hunter Nick Mizera Hired to Lead Chapter Efforts in Western Nebraska

Quail Forever have hired Nick Mizera, a dedicated upland hunter, biologist, and falconer, to serve as regional representative in western Nebraska. In this role, Mizera will provide support for volunteers in the Cornhusker State – currently home to 59 Pheasants Forever chapters, four Quail Forever chapters and more than 8,000 members – as they focus on public and private lands habitat conservation efforts for pheasants, quail, and other wildlife.

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever empower county and local chapters with the responsibility to determine how 100 percent of their locally raised conservation funds will be spent - the only national conservation organization that operates through this truly grassroots structure. As a result, chapter volunteers can see the fruits of their efforts locally, while belonging to a larger national organization with a voice on federal and state conservation policy. Mizera will help guide local chapters to achieve the organization’s mission in Nebraska, while also fostering stronger partnerships with state agencies, corporate supporters, donors, and upland hunters.

“Western Nebraska is an important region for Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever that consists of incredible volunteer chapters, important conservation programs, and strategic partnerships that are helping to conserve grassland acres in the state’s primary pheasant and quail ranges,” stated Tom Fuller, field service director for Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever. “With that in mind, I’m pleased to welcome Nick Mizera as our new staffer in western Nebraska and look forward to seeing him bring new energy to our volunteer base, habitat projects, and future partner collaborations.”

Growing up on quail hunting, bird dog training, and habitat management on his family’s farm in northern Missouri, Mizera is no stranger to the upland lifestyle. He graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Northwest Missouri State University before accepting a position with State Farm as a professional risk advisor. More recently, Mizera was hired as a route sales and service employee with Cintas, an American corporation which provides a range of products and services to businesses throughout the United States.

Heavily involved with varying aspects of hunting and conservation, Mizera maintains a volunteer record with Quail Forever, Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, Ducks Unlimited, the Missouri Falconers Association, and the North American Falconers Association. Mizera started his falconry lifestyle as a freshman in high school and currently hunts with a peregrine falcon named “Bolt.”

“Conservation of upland species and habitat isn’t just something I am passionate about, it’s part of my heritage,” stated Nick Mizera. “Working for Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever helps feed my passion to enhance hunting opportunities, increase public awareness and education, conserve and improve habitat, and maintain access to the nation’s fragile grasslands. I’m excited for the opportunities that lie ahead.”
Mizera will reside in North Platte with his wife, Devon, and their son, Raylan. For more information about Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever in western Nebraska, contact Nick Mizera at (417) 894-7762 / NMizera@PheasantsForever.Org.
