. Donations will help landowners restore conservation practices for wildlife, including grassland reseedings, grazing infrastructure and short-term cover. Pheasants Forever & Quail Forever will work with partner conservation organizations to match funds with local field biologists to deliver projects in affected areas.
Eighty percent of Nebraska has been declared in emergency, with Governor Pete Ricketts calling the floods, the most widespread destruction we have ever seen in our state’s history. Nebraska is 97 percent privately owned, and many farmers and ranchers have experienced a total loss to their operations.
“In Nebraska, wildlife habitat starts with our private landowners, many of who voluntarily enroll in habitat programs. Through the state’s Open Fields and Waters
, landowners also open their lands to much of the public access enjoyed in the state,” said Kelsi Wehrman, Pheasants Forever & Quail Forever’s State Coordinator in Nebraska, “Rebuilding critical habitat for pheasants, quail, monarchs, pollinators and other wildlife will come at a cost, one landowners shouldn’t bear alone. The Nebraska Habitat Relief Fund is a way to help this effort in a time of great need.”
