Quail Forever Hire in Louisiana to Help Deliver Wildlife Conservation on Working Lands

Quail Forever and its partners are pleased to announce the hiring of Ashley Waguespack as the new Coordinating Wildlife Biologist in Bastrop, LA. Waguespack will work with partners from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries, and National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to provide technical assistance for landowners interested in enhancing or restoring forest and grassland habitats for wildlife.

Farm Bill programs such as the Environmental Quality Incentive Program offer landowners the opportunity to restore and enhance critical habitats for quail and other wildlife. With this in mind, the state of Louisiana represents an important geography for a wide range of wildlife, and Quail Forever is excited to work with its partners to help increase conservation technical assistance to landowners in the region.

“Ashley has a strong passion for forestry and wildlife conservation,” stated Chris McLeland, Pheasants Forever & Quail Forever’s south region director, “We’re thrilled to add her as part of a growing conservation team in Louisiana.”

Waguespack was raised in Monroe, Louisiana and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, concentrating in wildlife management.

Waguespack will be based out of the Bastrop NRCS Field Office and can be reached at awaguespack@quailforever.org or (225) 206-3017.
