The start of an exciting future for Quail Forever in the Southwest

By David Gutierrez

Vegas has a new game in town!Quail Forever is proud to welcome anew chapter to the organization, theSouthern Nevada Chapter located in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada. What could possibly go wrong; whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas right? Other than QF memberships,of course. This new chapter is an outstanding example of the untapped energy and passion of our southwestern quail hunters, and how exciting the future for Quail Forever looks to be in the Southwest.

Since starting up their Las Vegas-based chapter in August of 2021, Southern Nevada Quail Forever has maintained a steady rhythm of social and habitat-related events. In October, the chapter partnered with the Nevada Department of Wildlife and Friends of Nevada Wilderness to re-plant over 200 native shrubs around a guzzler in the Mormon Mountains — an area previously ravaged by wildfire.

In December, the chapter hosted their first pint night social/fundraiser, in conjunction with the Nevada chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, with more than 20 people in attendance (and a good time had by all). The chapter’s next fundraiser/social is tentatively scheduled for late March of 2022, with a series of habitat projects to follow. For more information, or to connect with the chapter, follow Southern Nevada Quail Forever’s Instagram @southernnevadaquailforever, or contact them via email at: southernnevadaquailforever@gmail.com.
