Drivers can represent The Habitat Organization with new specialty plates featuring upland game birds
Yesterday, Governor Kelly signed Senate Bill 403 into law, bringing a new opportunity for habitat conservation funding to Kansas. Residents of the Sunflower State can purchase a specialty license plate featuring either a pheasant or a bobwhite quail starting July 1, with all funds going towards wildlife habitat conservation.
Passing this bill provides a meaningful, voluntary way to support conservation while generating additional funding that remains focused on habitat, public access to the outdoors, and educating the next generation of hunters and conservationists. Specialty license plates are a proven tool that allows citizens to directly invest in conservation efforts they value, while increasing public awareness of the work taking place across the state.

“Each vehicle displaying a Pheasants Forever or Quail Forever plate becomes a visible reminder of Kansas’ strong conservation ethic, its upland traditions, and the importance of protecting natural resources in partnership with landowners, farmers, hunters, agencies, and communities to deliver real conservation on the ground,” said Mika Rezac, PF & QF’s regional representative in Kansas. “The specialty license plate program is another effective tool that allows Kansans to directly support our mission, and we’re thrilled to see this all come to fruition.”
The involvement of PF & QF team members, volunteers and partners was crucial to passing this bill; over the last year, more than 600 PF & QF supporters stepped up to signal their interest in sporting the plates, pushing this effort over the finish line with state lawmakers.
