Oregon – California Quail See Improvement

Forecast: Hunters should see a noticeable improvement in California quail numbers over last year in most areas, reports David Budeau, upland game bird coordinator for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW). Favorable spring conditions due to timely weather patterns have contributed to quail production, but populations and harvest are still below the five-year average. A total of 11,229 hunters in Oregon harvested an estimated 23,595 birds during the 2013 season.
