Utah – The Beehive State Creates Buzz for Quail Season

Forecast: Hunters should find good numbers of California and Gambel’s quail this year in Utah, a state showing bird surveys nearly 50 percent higher than the 10-year average. In 2013, Utah hunters harvested 2,626 California quail and 1,341 Gambel’s quail.

“Both of our quail species’ had great nesting and brood-rearing conditions this spring,” reports Jason Robinson, upland game coordinator for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.“Northeast Utah should provide standout areas for quail hunters, especially south of the Uinta Mountains and Washington County.”
