Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s Al Eiden Accepted into National Conservation Leadership Institute

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are proud to announce Al Eiden, the organization’s longtime west region director of conservation delivery, has been accepted into the 17th cohort of the National Conservation Leadership Institute (NCLI). Eiden has been with The Habitat Organization since 2018 and has helped his team make a significant impact on habitat across the western reaches of the country.

“Al’s leadership has been impeccable during his tenure as the west region director,” said Drew Larsen, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s vice president of conservation delivery. “He’s responsible for leading a team of over 50 employees across 10 states, and has done so with not only great enthusiasm, but great efficiency as well. Under his leadership, the organization has profoundly increased its impact on habitat and wildlife in the west.”

Eiden’s team has improved over 1.2 million acres during his time as west region director, with 485,000 of those coming in 2022 alone. He’s also spearheaded a major organizational initiative to highlight the unique outdoor recreation experiences in the west, and more than doubled the size of his team in five years.

The National Conservation Leadership Institute is a comprehensive learning experience that brings the best conservation employees across North America together to hone their leadership skills. Those accepted will attend a 10-day first residency this fall at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s prestigious National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, and will finish the course with a three-day follow up residency the next spring. The curriculum will focus on personal leadership, and expand to leadership relevant to teams, organizations and the conservation community.

Eiden joins a small group of current Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever leaders who have been accepted into the NCLI, including VP of conservation delivery Drew Larsen, chief conservation officer Ron Leathers and director of grant development Matt Holland.

“I’m incredibly proud to represent Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever in the 17th cohort of the NCLI,” Eiden said. “This organization, and the work we do, means so much to me. I would like to thank my entire team in the western U.S. for all the incredible work they do. I know we’ll only continue to improve in the years to come.”
