Quail Forever Promotes Tim Caughran to Director of Field Operations

Quail Forever has announced Tim Caughran as the organization’s new director of field operations. A 13-year employee at “The Habitat Organization,” Caughran is now responsible for raising the profile of Quail Forever in the quail range through volunteer leads, chapter starts, partnership expansion, and further implementation of Quail Forever programs.

“Having the opportunity to serve in this new role and become the successor to Jim Wooley, the organization’s first wildlife biologist, is a true honor,” stated Tim Caughran, Quail Forever’s new director of field operations. “The last decade has taught us that working with volunteers, state and federal agencies, non-traditional partners, and other conservation groups is absolutely critical for restoring quail populations. To that end, I look forward to developing more innovative partnerships and initiatives to help restore native quail to their former glory.”

Preceding his career with “The Habitat Organization,” Caughran grew up as a dedicated quail hunter in southern Illinois before earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Illinois University in 2000. Following his higher education, he worked as a wildlife technician and habitat restoration assistant for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources before being hired as a habitat specialist in 2003 with Pheasants Forever in Wisconsin. Entering his fourth promotion with Quail Forever – having previously served as a habitat specialist, Illinois regional representative, east region field manager, and now, director of field operations – Caughran hopes to work closely with the National Bobwhite Conservation Initiative, the U.S. Forest Service, and state wildlife agencies to implement further quail focus areas and expand these efforts to other parts of the United States.

“Quail Forever has grown by leaps and bounds to now include more than 16,000 members and 152 chapters who are completing wildlife habitat conservation projects for all six native quail species. To say that Tim Caughran has been a large part of this effort would be an understatement,” explained Howard Vincent, president and CEO of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever. “We look forward to Tim’s leadership on the quail front to promote further partnerships, create more chapters, and ultimately help restore quail habitat and populations across the country.”

Caughran resides in Illinois with his wife, Kimberly, and his three children, Sam, Anna, and Ben. He starts his new position with Quail Forever on August 6; for more information about Quail Forever or opportunities to partner for quail conservation efforts, contact Tim Caughran at (618) 791-3909 or email.
